Trailblazers’ Testimonies!

What makes a leader? How is “good” leadership defined – and by whom?

Too often the attributes depicting women in leadership present an exclusive value set which fails to encompass difference in individuals. At McGill Women in Leadership Students’ Association, we believe leaders come in all forms, from all sectors, represent all backgrounds and exist in varying roles all of which have equal merit. The theme of our conference this year is “Reimagining Leadership” where we aim to better understand what being a leader means to different women and how intersectionality plays a key role in determining the various pathways that direct women into leadership positions. It’s time for women to define, on our own terms, what leadership means to us and how we can work to create conditions in the workforce that truly celebrates diversity.

Location: New Residence Hall (Ballroom A)
Accessibility: Elevator access to the ballroom via the main floor.
Dress Code: Professional Attire
Language: This speaker event is being held in English.

Woman of the Week – Lauren Soave

Introducing this week’s Woman of the Week, Lauren Soave!

When asked what leadership means to her, she says:

“Leadership is the ability to pass on the passion that you have for something in order to drive others to attain a goal. I think without passion it’s really hard to be influential to others. You have to want something bad enough to want others to want it to. Looking at the world today and our leaders, I see that lack in passion. Leading others should not be motivated by obligation or money, but it should be motivated by wanting to make something good happen in this world.”
